About me :)
Hi there! I'm Sam López, a Mexican-American graphic designer, illustrator, and all around creative based in Texas. I love using color, type, and graphical elements like icons to create sincere, well-researched work that speaks to people of many different backgrounds.
I've been exploring the intersection of science and fine arts ever since I was in grade school. I further nurtured this passion by studying design at The University of Texas at Dallas, where I graduated Cum Laude from the school of Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communications. As an extremely self-motivated creative who thrives in fast-paced environments where I can collaborate with peers and stakeholders, I am known for bringing my out-of-the-box thinking and enthusiasm to every project I work on.
When I'm not designing or illustrating for work or for play, you can probably find me making zines, sewing, or taking pictures of every dog I see. Check out more about these hobbies below.
Zines
The word 'zine' is derived from 'magazine' and has come to refer to a self-published work with a small circulation, developed by a single person or small group using D.I.Y. techniques. Here's one of my favorites I've made over the years.
Sewing
I took a 'Sew Your Own Tote Bag' class while visiting New York a few years ago, got hooked, and never looked back. Below I'm wearing some of my projects I've sewn so far including a color-blocked T-Shirt and a bag!
My Dogs
Biscuit (my older Australian Cattle Dog-Corgi mix) and Colby Jack (my 10 month old Corgi puppy) share the important job of both being cute and reminding me when I've been sitting at my computer too long.
